If you ask our coaches “Why we are different”, you are likely to hear that First Tee – Pittsburgh is different than other golf programs because we care about each participant’s character more than their golf skills. We are proud of the fact that we enable kids (and teens) to build the strength of character that empowers them through a lifetime of new challenges by seamlessly integrating the game of golf with life skills. We provide active learning experiences that develop inner strength, self-confidence and resilience that kids can carry into everything they set out to accomplish.
According to our website, we are building Game Changers, and I agree. Experiences are our greatest teacher. We believe in developing the ones that are just as fun as they are meaningful, where kids feel excited to grow, safe to fail, and better equipped for whatever comes their way next. With proven results, we aim to help kids become better versions of themselves while enriching the communities around us.
We work to actively create a space of belonging for every kid – no matter what walk of life. We offer programs for kids and teens up to age 18. We help kids discover what’s inside of them, guide them to strengthen it, and mentor them to put it into action in everything they do. Also, we never turn a kid away for the inability to pay. Currently our programs are only $60 for a 6 week session, compared to $139 for a 4 week session by a local golf instruction organization. Do they give their services away like we do? I doubt it. Like I said before, with our program, no kid is ever turned away for the inability to pay. When needed, we do group clinics for FREE and we discount our regular price for just about any family that says they need it.
Before you sign-up for some other golf program, be sure they are the best fit for the kind of kid you are trying to raise. Is it all golf? Or are they also helping to build character, like we do?
To me, what we do (and the way we do it) is really cool. If your kid is interested in golf, and you are interested in helping us build another game changer, get them involved in our program.
